To sign "Spirit" in American Sign Language (ASL), create an "8" handshape with both hands by touching the thumb and middle finger together while extending the other fingers. Position the tips of the thumb and middle finger of your dominant hand inside the upright "8" handshape of the non-dominant hand. Then, move the dominant "8" hand upwards in a snaking or spiraling motion, as though extracting something from the non-dominant "8" hand.
